About Lotus Flower of the Heart

As a Marine and combat veteran, I developed a mindset built around discipline, resilience, and survival. But after leaving the military, I realized that the way I had trained my mind wasn't always helpful in everyday civilian life.

For more than 20 years, I've been learning how to better understand my thoughts, emotions, and reactions. Through trial and error, I discovered something simple but powerful: I can't always control the thoughts that enter my mind, but I can learn to recognize them and choose where to direct my attention.

That realization became the foundation of Lotus Flower of the Heart Meditations.

LFOTH is a simple meditation practice built around a mental anchor - something meaningful that gently brings your attention back whenever your thoughts begin to wander. It's a way to recognize frustration, anger, or negative thought patterns before automatically reacting to them.

Through consistent practice, I've become more aware of my reactions, more patient, and more peaceful in everyday life. I'm still learning, and I still have difficult moments, but I've discovered that even small changes in awareness can make a meaningful difference.

I created LFOTH to share this practice with others. My goal isn't to teach people how to stop thinking or feeling. It's to help them recognize their thoughts and emotions and develop a healthier relationship with them.

You don't need military discipline, religious beliefs, or previous meditation experience. You just need a willingness to practice.

The Meaning Behind LFOTH

LFOTH represents two meditation anchors: Lotus Flower of the Heart and Little Flower on the Hill. Both symbolize peace, hope, and the beauty of life. Whether you imagine a lotus within your heart or a flower growing on a hillside, each offers a peaceful place for your attention to return to. Every journey is personal, and there is no right or wrong way to experience it.
